Desperately Needed Upgrade!

10 days to LA!

For any new visitors to my blog, I’m flying out to Los Angeles to tape 3 episodes of Uncommon Threads a craft show on the DIY channel. The folks at Screen Door Entertainment produce Uncommon Threads and Knitty Gritty, with host Vickie Howell as well as a few other super cool shows on DIY. I have been working on this for about 3 months, and will appear with Amie from NexStitch and Drew, AKA The Crochet Dude

I’m thinking about how I'm going to transport all of my crochet "stuff” to LA. So I dug around for some luggage, old carriers, duffel bags, and I found an old treasure from my younger (and wilder) days! Yes, dear readers, years ago, in the late 80's, I tried to play the drums, I was really bad, eventually sold my drum set to pay rent. Coincidence or not, but I was in and around LA back then (actually Santa Ana in "So Cal". I moved back to Minnesota, left my dream of being a drummer in a rock band, BUT I kept one of my beat up old drum cases.

Yep, this is one of my drum cases (corney stickers and all) and it will haul my crochet stuff out to LA in 10 days! Yarn in a drum case? Hauling around my crochet stuff in style? Maybe I can find a desperately needed upgrade when I'm in LA!

I played the drums too! And I sucked too! Actually, I was pretty good, but my mom had already dealt with having a kid in a rock band, so I thought I'd give her a break.

I didn't know you and Drew were going to be on the same show. That is awesome! I can't wait for it to air.

An 'upgrade' from this cool peice of traveling history? Oh Pam, please don't, this is funky fun, (as you would say!) I finished my newsboy hat, way too big, but thanks for your advice on the brim, I'll have to RIPit becasue I made a huge mistake. Good luck in LA!

HA HA HA! I *heart* the "VANS" sticker. I miss my old black and white checkered slip-ons and hawaiian slip-ons. Those ROCKED. THey ought to make those again just for fun. And do I spy a Quicksilver sticker too? I used to have those all OVERRRrrr my bike as a kid, being that I'm from a shore town where surfing is what everyone did for fun.

I like the drum case/crochet carry on idea. It's a cool shaped case, and it'll protect your stuff good.

10 days!!!

Personally, I love your crochet carrying case! I think it looks very unique and cool! And just think, you will have no problems spotting your luggage in a busy airport terminal.

Hope you have a great time.

Wow! Pam! You're appearing with my fave crochet guy, Drew! That is so cool. Watch out when you're carrying your 'drum' kit! People will mistake you for a roadie! You'll fit right into the SoCal scene!

Best of luck. Let us know if you have one spare minute in L.A. to visit!
